Rio Grande Winery, Harvest Host, Las Cruces, New Mexico

It was a quick departure at daylight from Belen as we headed towards Bernardo Wildlife Preserve that we had visited last year. We took the auto tour stopping at the observation deck and then stopping to take the trail to the bird blinds on the pond. The sand hill cranes were out in mass in the corn fields and the snow geese were further around towards the lake. We then got to stop again at Owl Cafe for a green chili burger before continuing on towards Las Cruces and spending the night at Rio Grande Winery. Some places are worth going back to and this winery is one of them. There were 9 other rigs for the night as it was a Friday night and they had two musicians playing some great music on the outdoor patio behind the plastic and the heaters overlooking the vineyard. There were several fire pits ablaze and a good local crowd enjoying the wine. We had two flights to sample all the eight red wines and then enjoyed a glass of our favorite while we listened to the band and ate a soft pretzel with beer cheese. We ended up cooking dinner in the RV and passing on the pizza. It was another chilly night but we were cozy with our propane heater in Cutie,
