It was a winding road through the back roads of Alabama to Jennings Ferry Park Campground, Corp of Engineers Park. We were surprised to be able to reserve a waterfront site on the Black Warrior River for a Friday night on short notice to attend a Birmingham Paleontology Society Field Trip to a small creek outside Eutaw on private land. The lake was like a mirror with songbirds in the tall trees. We arrived on Friday evening in a light drizzle that stopped before we set up camp and then we had beautiful weather for the weekend.

On Saturday, we joined the Fossil Club group in Eutaw and caravaned to the creek where we pulled off the road and made a path to the creek. It was treacherous walking in the chalky, slippery creekbed but the water was cool and it was shady and shallow. No one found much but it was a great outing with a picnic lunch back at the campground.

On Sunday morning we took our coffee along the birding trail in the park before breakfast. After breakfast, we packed up and headed home along another known route with no unexpected narrow roads.
