We ate breakfast out and then headed onto the interstate for a long drive across the state. We stopped at the Trader Joe's Market in Salt Lake City and enjoyed a picnic lunch in Freedom Park. It was crowded as everyone was trying to beat the heat and find a shady spot. Finally, we left the interstate to then climb up into the mountains of the Uinta-Wasatch Cache National Forest. We followed the Mirror Lake Parkway up and up to Sulfur Campground.

The next day we drove to the Ruth Lake Trail Head and hiked to Ruth Lake passing backpackers with helmets for rock climbing. We had a picnic lunch at Mirror Lake and hiked the Mirror Lakeshore Trail. We finished out the day by hiking out of another trailhead to Fehr Lake. By that time, we had hiked over five miles and were ready to relax at the campsite.
