Mogadore, Ohio to South Whitley, Indiana

We got an early start headed for the Eel River Bison Ranch. We passed huge wind turbine farms located in the middle of cornfields. We stopped in Fort Wayne for an urban hike and lunch at the Hoppy Gnome Brewery. When we arrived at the ranch, we were greeted and were directed to a grassy spot under the trees beside the pond and next to the barn and paddocks to camp for the night. We toured the wedding venue with a lounge for the guys, a sitting room for the gals, and a gift shop and observation deck overlooking the paddocks. There was a large ballroom and a covered porch with a bandstand all beautifully decorated for a wedding that they had the night before. The owner educated us about bison and his wife joined us for a walk across the pasture along the electric fence to the farthest field where the bison were grazing. We enjoyed chatting over drinks and tasting bison meat snacks until 11 pm. We ended up with Caribbean Jerk bison snacks, breakfast sausage, and smoked bison chuck roast suitable for thin slicing and enjoying cold. What a wonderful opportunity to meet a couple so passionate about ranching.
