We got an early start to stop at Moyer's Corner Cafe in the town of South Whitley for a taste of rural America. Our backwoods route to Lavender Crest Winery in Colona, Illinois took us past more wind turbine farms. We were slowed down by a detour for closed road, two road line painting trucks, bridge washing,f and multiple flagmen for road construction. We were delighted to arrive at the winery and park along the hedgerow. We sampled three reds and two white wines in the restaurant and chose a red blend to enjoy on the back patio. After the restaurant closed at 5 pm, we brought out our picnic dinner and enjoyed the red blend wine we purchased. The beautiful flowers and grounds along with the vines make for an elegant wedding venue.
