Blackhawk Park near De Soto, Wisconsin

We left Potosi early for Sunshine Family Restaurant in downtown Dubuque, Iowa for a great senior breakfast of french toast and bacon. We walked to the clock tower and by the impressive city hall historic building and then moved the car and trailer over to the Star Brewery parking lot along the River Walk. A city worker watering the flowers opened up the private historic Shot Tower for our viewing as it is closed to the public. This is where they dropped lead pellets to make ammunition. The river walk had beautiful art and flower gardens as it went along by the convention center, hotel and around the ice harbour marina and museum. From there we drove high up on the bluff to Eagle Point Park and hiked around the beautiful park with old stone pavilions, outdoor theater which overlooked the lock and dam. Next stop was to the Arboretum and Gardens where we wandered the rose garden, shade garden and Japanese gardens while it was still cloudy and comfortable out. We had a shorter drive up to Blackhawk Park and stopped at a cheese and smoked fish market on the way. We found smoked perch and smoked swiss and smoked cheddar cheeses for picnic dinner. We set up camp and walked along by the swimming and fishing holes and ended up back in the cutie to get out of the 93 degree heat. The next morning it was a pleasant 72 degrees and one of the locals had a jacket on.
