Brattleboro, Vermont to Rexford, New York

We woke up to a brilliant blue clear sky and sat out sipping our coffee in the lawn chairs next to the pasture. We drove through Wilmington, Vermont and stopped by Dot's Restaurant where we had eaten before but it was closed for the week so we drove on. We headed to the Visitor Center of the Erie Canal in Waterford, New York, stopping at a sidewalk diner downtown for breakfast.  Further along the old Erie Canal, we stopped at a Nature Preserve and hiked the old towpath to old Lock 19 which was a beautifully wooded bike path.  We drove along the scenic byway on the way to our Harvest Host for the night at Bowman Orchards in Rexford, New York. We were the first camper in the beautiful grassy parking lot next to the apple barn and bakery gift shop. We walked through the u-pick em orchards with the apples and blackberries being ripe for picking. We ended up buying peaches and gala apples, maple walnut fudge and apple caramel cake to spend our twenty dollars for spending the night. The shops close at 5 pm so it should be a peaceful night as we have a shady spot for our lawn chairs along the hedge row.
