Windsor, Vermont to Brattleboro, Vermont

We spent a leisurely morning at the campsite before driving south along the Vermont and New Hampshire border to Brattleboro. We passed by a city park where Senator Bernie Sanders was speaking to a crowd. We parked near the historic downtown and went to Hermit Thrush Brewery. They had moved all their seating to outdoors in the parking lot so we stopped for a flight of sour beers and a yummy brie cheeese, apples and fig with arugula on sourdough bread sandwich. Our 2 mile hike for the day was to the CoOp cheese store that was filled with Vermont made foods. Right before the rain started we dashed to the car and drove to Robb Family Farm Maple Sugar House, our Harvest Host stay for the night. Two dogs greeted us and the owners were away so we set up our happy hour munchies on the front porch of their gift shop and sat back in their rocking chairs. Not long after, she arrived to show us the sugar house operation and the taps and lines out the back that go up the mountain to their 6200 maple trees. We bought some maple goodies and then settled in at our own picnic table and chairs with fire pit next to the pasture. The cows, calves and a single black horse came through the trees when the owner called and we loved watching then come up to the fence to graze. Glenn made a fire and we sat out until after dark in the peaceful setting as we were the only ones here for the night.
