Plattsburgh, New York to Windsor, Vermont

We had a pleasant quiet night at Valcour Brewery and hiked to breakfast in Plattsburgh. on the Empire State Bike Trail. We then headed to the ferry crossing Lake Champlain to Grand Isle, Vermont and then the bridge that passed close to Burlington. We followed in the foothills of the Green Mountains to Windsor, Vermont. We camped at Mount Ascutney Sate Park for two nights.

Our campsite at Mount Ascutney State Park

In the morning we drove up the winding road to the first overlook off Mount Ascutney but the thick fog prevented any view. We drove to the top and then hiked to the summit, climbed the fire tower and still did not get a view until the sun burned off the fog and we could see off the hang glider platform. Thirsty from our hike we headed into Windsor to the Harpoon Brewery and Beer Garden which was mobbed so we continued our drive down the Connecticut River Byway to River Roost Brewery which had great outdoor seating and only a few folks all with their dogs. We cooked dinner in the rain but kept dry under our visor canopy.

Fog obscured any view today
