Herring Cove Provincial Park, Campobello Island, New Brunswick, Canada

It started raining early in the morning and even though we had packed up everything we could, we got soaked packing up the car. We were underway at 6:30 am heading towards Trans Canada Highway going through Moncton and St. John on the way to the free fairy to Deer Island. We drove in the rain and fog and it quit as we waited on the ferry. We actually saw a deer on Deer Island as we drove to the next ferry landing to ride to Campobello Island. We unhooked the trailer at Herring Cove Provincial Park and headed to The Porch at Friar's Bay for seafood chowder and poutine. A thunderstorm quickly dumped water and blocked the view of the bay just as we got served on the front porch. We drove to Herring Head and spotted several whales, porpoises, and seals. The next stop was Roosevelt International Park Visitor Center for trail maps.

This morning we headed to Prince Cottage for breakfast on the porch overlooking the water. This would be our first cooked breakfast out on this trip which we always enjoy.  We ended up with ham and cheese paninis as their only egg dish was a fried egg on a bagel. We enjoyed an endless cup of coffee with only one other couple on the deck. We then drove to Roosevelt Park and parked at Raccoon Beach. We took the hiking trail to Liberty Point passing by Owen Head, the Sunswept Sculpture at Ragged Point, and on past Sugar Loaf Rock at Liberty Point before rounding the point past the Fog Forest and the Yellow Bank heading to Lower Duck Pond. We then hiked the road back to Raccoon Beach for a picnic lunch. We stopped and walked the beach towards Herring Cove and the golf course before driving back to the campsite to pick up cold beer and munchies which we enjoyed at the picnic area in the campground overlooking the beach we had walked earlier.  We ended up walking close to 10 miles and headed back to the campsite for dinner inside as the mosquitoes are out.
