Wesley Clover Parks Campground, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada

We had a beautiful drive through Algonquin Provincial Park and on the TransCanada Highway to Wesley Clover Parks Campground 15 minutes outside Ottawa. We stopped within the park at the Outfitters Store for coffee and apple muffins. The park has numerous campsites and trails and looks like a great place to return to. We headed to Conspiracy Theory Brewery for wings and pizza after we set up camp.

On the way stopped at a old train station now a welcome center and museum

Enjoyed dinner outside at the brewery

We got an early start on our drive into Ottawa for a day of sightseeing. We parked in the underground garage at the closed City Hall and walked past the Firefighter Memorial. We walked first to the trail along the Rideau Canal and Locks where boats were docked at either end waiting for the 9 am opening. We followed the trail along the Ottawa River to Parliament Hill, and then to the National War Memorial and Tomb of Unknown Soldier. We ended up getting a free tour of the Royal Canadian Mint since the credit card system was down. We stopped inside the Notre Dame Cathedral Basilica. We went by the Byward Market and ate lunch on the upstairs balcony of the Pour House. We walked by the Peacekeeping Monument on the way to the Rideau Falls and Chutes. We toured the Bank of Canada Museum and then came through Sparks Street Mall and Confederation Park on the way back to the parking garage. What a beautiful city and a beautiful day to be out enjoying the sites.
